Inundated with Cicadas
Local resident Hatice observed a huge number of cicadas in the Malden on Hudson area which abuts the eastern shore of the Hudson River. Check out the photos she provided to get an idea of just how numerous the cicadas were.

Great pictures! We don’t get anything that big over here in the UK but now I understand why you were interested in recipes for them!
Thank you! I discovered that there is a cicada that is native to the UK called the ‘New Forest’ cicada, (found in the New Forest, Hampshire). It is endangered in the UK due to loss of habitat, however it’s range includes Europe and Asia. Also, there is anecdotal evidence of hearing them in Merton Park, a suburb of London. It is similar in size to the NY cicada, body length: 16 – 27 mm (approx. 1″). No possibility of eating them in the UK!
